July 2012— Coastside Adult Day Health Center’s first annual golf tournament will be held on Saturday, Aug. 18, at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links at 10 a.m. Half Moon Bay Joe’s is the premier sponsor and will be serving dinner after the tournament.

The center is seeking support for the event in a number of ways. The public can support the center’s vital programs by golfing and purchasing tickets. Businesses will be sponsoring holes and contributing donations for a raffle and silent auction.

Coastside Adult Day Health Center in Half Moon Bay has been serving seniors for 30 years. Buses for the center’s four-hour program pick up seniors Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; the buses are available for seniors living anywhere from Daly City to Pescadero. Speech, occupational and physical therapies are provided along with nursing services, social services, personal care, and stimulating activities.

Janie Bono-James, executive director of Coastside Adult Day Health Center, says, “We take care of the people who built this community. They can remain at home or in their current living situation without having to be prematurely placed in nursing homes.” The center gives family caregivers a break while their loved ones are at the center. “Our compassionate staff becomes part of our clients’ extended families,” Bono-James says.

The tournament will be held on the Old Course at the Half Moon Bay Golf Links and is priced at $150 per player. The deadline for golfers to register is July 15, 2012. Holes can be sponsored for $100. The hole flags will be presented to sponsors after the tournament. Items for the raffle and silent auction are being accepted and include three wedge clubs from Dave Butler Golf, also known as Dr. Grip; hotel and restaurant gift certificates; a round of golf from the Half Moon Bay Golf Links; and sports clothing items, quilts and much more. Raffle tickets are three tickets for $5.
