Mavericks: Everest of the Seas photographic exhibit in Half Moon Bay

The many moods of Mavericks, the world-famous big wave break just off Half Moon Bay, will be the subject of a unique art exhibit featuring the finest work of a group of local professional photographers. Ed Grant, Coastal Arts League member and Mavericks photographer, has assembled the most spectacular images from the cutting-edge photojournalists who risk life and limb to document the wave’s intense man-against-the-sea drama and the obsessive lifestyle of Maverick’s elite riders.

Both the photographers and the surfers who challenge the break on its most extreme days will make a rare one-time public appearance. The event is open to the public and admission is free. A portion of the proceeds from sales of photographs and books will help support the Half Moon Bay High School Surf Club.

Meet the Mavericks legends on Saturday, Feb. 21 from 3-8 p.m. at the Coastal Arts League Gallery, 300 Main St., Half Moon Bay. The exhibit, Mavericks: Everest of the Seas, runs Feb. 13-March 9.

For additional information, call Grant at 650-888-9908 or visit the league’s Web site at www.coastalartsleague.com.
