Puente and the San Mateo County Public Health Department will be bringing a pilot program of cooking demonstrations at the Coastside Farmers’ Markets. Look for them the first week of every month for the rest of the season. Dishes will be created to feature five ingredients that are available at the markets and in season. The dishes will also take no more than five steps to prepare or assemble.
The Coastside markets are also a part of MarketMatch, a grant via the California Farmers’ Market Consortium. MarketMatch helps increase purchasing power for fresh fruits and vegetables for low-income workers when they purchase from the Coastside Farmers’ Markets, and Pescadero Grown!
Join the Friends of the Farmer’s Markets to get advance notice of the Demo-Dish, and the recipe emailed to you. This season the dishes included Dinosaur Tongue Salad and a Trio of Rooster-beak Sauces.
The Perfect Edge will be in both locations this week, and the Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company makes their market debut this weekend to offer entertainment as you shop.
