Summer camp season is coming up before you know it!

We are planning our March issue around “kids and camps” and wonder where your children have had great experiences. We are building a resource list to publish in the March issue and would love feedback from our readers.

Have you found a horse camp that was the perfect place for your young equestrian? Or perhaps your children are really interested in sports and you found a great camp for them .

Last year we published an article about art camps (San Mateo County Day Camping for Art) but thought that we would create a resource listing for parents to check out themselves.

Please send an email or respond to this post by February 1, 2011.

We appreciate your help.

San Mateo County’s Food For Fines Program

Wednesday, December 8th, 2010

Do you have an overdue book or CD that you borrowed a while ago and just never got around to returning?

Food for Fines — a collaboration between the San Mateo County Board of Supervisors, the San Mateo County Libraries, the Redwood City Libraries and Second Harvest Food Bank — is giving residents a chance to give back to the community and clear up fines through December 31, 2010.

Take any amount of nonperishable boxed or canned food to any of the library branches during business hours and library fines and fees will be waived. The food will be donated to the Second Harvest Food Bank. Of course, you can bring food to the libraries whether or not you owe a fine. Second Harvest provides millions of pounds of food in Santa Clara and San Mateo counties.
